## Before you start

A matching SVD; a paused compatible debug session for target values.

## Workflow

Load the device description or use the project-provided reference. Inspect peripheral addresses, fields and access. Read target values only when the connection and register behavior are understood. Use Ask AI with the relevant register evidence.

## Interpret the result

Documented reset values are not current values. Read-to-clear and other side effects make indiscriminate polling unsafe.

For an unexplained result, preserve the source/configuration and observation together. Use [Diagnose a failure](/workflows/diagnose) to turn it into a reproducible investigation. Check [support boundaries](/reference/limitations) before assuming a vendor-specific operation is implemented.
