# Release and OTA packaging

## Before you start

A deliberate release build and the packaging format/configuration expected by the product.

## Workflow

Review image identity, board revision and compatibility metadata before packaging. Use the Release view to create and verify supported packages. Retain the source revision, build configuration and test evidence.

## Interpret the result

Packaging is not deployment approval or proof of bootloader compatibility. Verify the package using the actual product update/recovery procedure.

For an unexplained result, preserve the source/configuration and observation together. Use [Diagnose a failure](/workflows/diagnose) to turn it into a reproducible investigation. Check [support boundaries](/reference/limitations) before assuming a vendor-specific operation is implemented.
