C and C++ completion uses clangd with the active native compilation database. It can supply symbols, types, SDK documentation, overloads, replacement edits and required includes. Header availability and generated configuration depend on the selected build. Hover over a source symbol to inspect compiler-derived information. Hover a register recognized in the loaded SVD for its absolute address, offset, access, fields, enumerated values and documented side effects. Missing reset values remain undocumented; hovering does not read the device. Use the register hover’s Ask AI link to attach the exact source-backed context. The context chip can navigate to an attached SVD file.

If completion is incomplete

Build/configure to generate headers and compile_commands.json. Check Code intelligence status in Settings. Verify that the compilation database belongs to the current project/configuration and that the SDK include paths exist. Restart clangd after repairing configuration. SVD names are device documentation, not proof that the SDK exposes identical C macros. Prefer compiler-backed symbols for compilable source. clangd compilation database guidance
